Youth & Families · Start Something

Begin where you are. Begin with what you have.

§ a first step on your own street

Many of the most flourishing patterns of activity in Ontario began with a single conversation between two people — a friend, a neighbour, a co-worker — who decided to do something together. We would like to help you begin.

Some simple ways to start

Host a devotional gathering in your home. Invite a few friends. Read some prayers. Have a discussion. There is no formula.

Begin a children's class. If there are two or three children on your street or in your family, you can begin a children's class for them. We will help you become a teacher, connect with other teachers, and go through the training.

Bring some junior youth together. If you know an animator nearby — or are willing to become one — we can help you form a junior youth group with young people from your neighbourhood.

Open a study circle with friends. Find two or three friends to study the first book of the institute together. The book takes about thirty hours; but the impact lasts much longer.

What we provide

For each of these, we will connect you with a friend nearby who has done it before. They will accompany you — practically, week by week — through the first cycles, until what was once a brave new thing has become a quiet habit.
